961 56" Red Oak box newel post has a solid 3-1/2" core blank with a 4-1/2" pedestal (sleeve). Paint Grade versions have a 3-3/8" shank. Shipped one piece to a box. The adjustable pedestal is a handy way to install the newel post and allow the sleeve-pedestal to cover the lag bolt holes, saving the carpenter time. Shipped with standard flat hats. Peaked-pyramid hats are available but sold separatly. Stocked in Elk Grove Village, IL. and Tracy, CA.These are solid newels, not hollow. Available in Red Oak, Hard Maple, Poplar, American Cherry, Euro Beech and Alder
